- Falk, Jacob Joshua ben Tzevi Hirsch
(1680-1756)
Polish rabbi and halakhic authority. He was born in Krakow and lived and worked in Lwow before serving as rabbi in the communities of Tarnow, Kurow and Lesko. In 1717 he became rabbi of Lwow; from 1730 to 1734 he was rabbi of Berlin, and he later became rabbi of Metz and Frankfurt am Main. His Penei Yehoshua is an outstanding work of novellae on the Talmud.
